Exploration of the Southern Coast of Peru and Andean Traverse through Pampa Galeras – Barbara D’Achille National Reserve.
When someone mentions that they are going to the Atacama Desert most people assume that they are traveling to Chile. This is actually correct but, the southern region of costal Peru is also home to the Atacama Desert. When you think of Peru, images of Machu Picchu, the Colca Canyon and Lake Titicaca come to mind. One thing is for sure, very few people ventures into the heart of the Peruvian Atacama Desert. People are not aware of its rich ancient cultural heritage, extraordinarily rich bird and marine life and stunning landscapes.
In 2021 Mario is planning an expedition to show his friends this seldom visited Peruvian gem. Not only will our expedition take us to the heart of the Peruvian Atacama, we will explore along the way pre-Inca complexes, kayak the waters of the Paracas Reserve, do a flyover the Nazca Lines, visit and organic farm and sea scallops farm and enjoy culinary experience Peruvian style along the way. All this combining superb lodging with night at fully staffed desert camps on the edge of the Pacific Ocean.

For the second face of our adventure we will take a memorable road trip from the Peruvian coast to the Sacred Valley in Cusco by traversing the Andes through stunning scenery. Along the way we will search for vicuñas in Pampa Galeras – Barbara D’Achille Reserve, visit with local alpaca farmers. We will explore seldom visited Inca sites like the ruins of Killarumiyoc, the Monolith of Sayhuite and end our trip in the Sacred Valley of the Incas where you can choose to visit Machu Picchu or simply fly home after our memorable adventure.
